You are providing a NEW activity, program, or event for the city of Wayne. This
event/activity/program may be tourism, sport, outdoor, public, commercial, or nonprofit
related.
Create a Business Plan that you will submit to interested financial partners/board of directors.
*Note: some of the information will be fictitious and you will need to be creative
The Business Plan will include the following components:
1. Title Page (see page 188 of text for what to include)
2. Front Matter- transmittal letter, table of contents
3. Executive Summary- two to three page background on the name of your organization, program/event, is it private, public or not for profit, address and telephone of the org., the names of founders, partners, and shareholders, the length of time the org has been in existence, the funds invested in the program/event to date and their source, any additional financing required, proposed terms and payback period for required financing, the total value or net worth of the organization
4. The Enterprise- Give the history of the enterprise and the org. Historical info is
presented in the form of a narrative about how, when and why the program/event was or will be started, as well as an identification of the key individuals directing the activity and description of the principal services to be offered.
5. The Industry- (see page 190) The principal characteristics of the industry to be
described in the business plan include its size, sales/participation levels, and performance standards. Describe the number of such programs offered in the
community, state, and country and in addition the total number of program participants, the time of year that this type of event is typically offered , etc.
6. Product/Service Offering- (see page 191)-This section should focus on the event/program’s unique features and emphasize its advantages.
7. Market Analysis (see page 192)-What makes individuals in the target market good customer candidates? What is the target market? Assess the strengths, weaknesses, advantages and disadvantages of all major competitors, along with a statement of how the organization plans to address the competitive challenge.
8. Marketing Plan-Discuss pricing-How were event/program prices determined?
What cost-recovery ratios do these prices reflect? How do they compare to those
charged by competitors? How will these prices contribute to achievement of the
organization’s financial goals? Promotions Plan? What is the promotions mix and
outline the marketing budget by providing a stand-alone Budget for the orgs.
Marketing efforts (this will cover expenses and potential sponsor expenses).
9. Production and Operations Plan (see page 193-194) location, facilities, equipment and labor. Discuss and describe.
10. The Management-Include names (your team and fictitious support personnel), job titles, and a brief listing of responsibilities that they will have, their qualifications,
experience, education, certifications. Complete this for top positions (i.e. Management) also include proposed salaries with total executive compensation (i.e. total that will be paid out yearly to management).
11. Organizational Chart-Develop an organizational chart for your organization.
12. Long term and Short Term objectives- what are the long term objectives to
secure a stable future…annual profit needed? Fundraising goals? Expansion issues?
