You can find a new community or use a community you already belong to.
Use the concepts from the chapter to make sure that your work is ethical and well done. You may rely on observation only (especially for movies) or start your own threads of conversation to gather more data (for the internet-based community option).
When you have gathered your data, write a 2-3 page (double spaced, 12 pt font, normal margins) ethnography of the movie or group you observed. What are they like? What do outsiders need to know to understand these people? What was your experience like? Why did you choose this movie or group to observe? Did you feel like an insider or an outsider? Do you feel you got a holistic picture of the community you studied? Why or why not? What steps did you take to make sure that your work was sociologically and ethically correct? Include any other information you feel is relevant.
