Watch “What is a Good Death?” and refer to pg. 567, Table 15-1 and 15-2 in your textbook and find at least one other academic source to discuss the concept of a good death.
Each of the speakers has a slightly different perspective, utilizing your textbook and other academic sources, please share the most important aspects of a good death in your opinion. Provide several specific examples of a “good death”. Research a few local hospices (i.e. Pathways) or national hospice websites (i.e. NHPCO) and respond to: What role can hospice play in providing someone with a “good death”? Please describe the types of services hospice provides both the terminally ill patient and their family. Consider and share the following: If you were terminally ill and considering entering a hospice, what types of care and services would you want? Provide examples and the reason you would want this service. What need would it serve (i.e. physical, psychological, spiritual, etc.) Explain your answer referring to specific reasons such as cost, family burden, and imminent death. You may want to visit a local hospice website to see the types of services provided. If applicable, feel free to share any personal experience you have had with hospice (i.e. family member, occupation, volunteer work, etc.).
