A general web search (google, bing, ask.com, etc.) will generally have a mix of trustworthy sources and junk, and you will need to find a way to differentiate among them. Determining whether the information comes from a reliable source is essential in deciding on the trustworthiness of the information. Using edited scholarly sources, the kinds of things you would access through library databases rather than general web searches such as google, can be very helpful in finding reliable, credentialed resources.
