Spiritual care

Spiritual care

Spiritual care to me means helping the patient with their spirituality when they are needing spiritual help while they are sick or injured. Making sure that their spiritual needs are met or trying to be met by finding the appropriate resources for them. According to Miller & Shelly, spiritual care means putting people in touch with God through compassionate presence, active listening, witness, prayer, bible reading and partnering with the body of Christ, it is never coercive or rude. The description differs from mine with the specifics such as actively listening, prayer, and bible reading. This isn’t something that we practice at my place of employment. We keep a distance, but we do make sure that they have what they need such as a bible is requested and someone their to listen or to pray with them. There just doesn’t also seem to be enough time to spend that much one to one spiritual care with all the other stuff to do. But will try my best to accomplish and provide them with spiritual care with the resources that I have.
