Before beginning this assignment, please read through Plato’s account of Atlantis and watch the Aegean: Legacy of Atlantis video via the YouTube link provided.
Then, please write a short, three paragraph paper utilizing the guidelines below:
First, write an extended paragraph of at least 100 words in which you describe the legend of Atlantis based on Plato’s account. Tell what kind of civilization it was, when it existed, what happened to it, and any other kind of information that will ensure a thorough description. Do NOT copy and paste from the readings. You need to summarize in your own words!
Next, write a second extended paragraph of at least 100 words in which you use information from the film that possibly links the volcanic eruption on the island of Thera in the 1600’s BCE to the legend of Atlantis.
Finally, write a third paragraph of at least 100 words in which you offer a different possibility for the reasoning behind the legend of Atlantis. You may wish to do some research on other sites in the world that could be tied to the Atlantis legend, and give information about one of them. Or, if you don’t believe the legend is based on an actual place, but is rather just a metaphor for something else, explain your reasoning. If you refer in your assignment to any additional sources you used in your research, be sure to have a Works Cited Page.
