You may earn up to five points on your final course grade by writing a 2-3 page essay that pertains to the conduct, interpretation, and/or (mis)use of research and the Covid-19 pandemic. Your essay might address new and ongoing ethical issues in research, the role of science in public health policies and practices, the presence of pseudoscience on social media, etc. You might also consider critically evaluating and comparing how a piece of research is discussed in the popular press vs. in the peer-reviewed journal article on which it is based. There are lots of options here; the most important thing is that you use course concepts and language to push your thinking about research and the pandemic
