Welcome to your Weekly Competency Discussion! As you know, CSWE requires that BSW & MSW students are trained in 9 competency areas (2015 Educational Policy and Accreditation StandardsDownload 2015 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards). This ensures that you are competent to practice as a Social Worker when you complete your educational program. These weekly discussions will help you to fuse the theory of these competencies with the field experience you are gaining in your practicum. In other words, you will gain a deeper understanding of how these apply in “real life.”
