Look at the use of space and privacy in films and television.

For Film Reflection 1, we will look at the use of space and privacy in films and television.

You have two options here. You can choose to look at 1 movie or 2-3 episodes of a television show (about 90-120 minutes for either option).

In both cases, you will want to look at the work through the lens of proxemics with an eye toward public and private life. So, you will identify the various types of spaces (review the material in Unit 2 on proxemics) and where you see markers.

Then, discuss the ways in which privacy is used in the work. In some cases, this will be very obvious, but in others, you might need to dig a little deeper. Think about it this way: any time there is a secret, we are dealing with privacy; any time someone acts one way at home and a different way at school or work, we are dealing with privacy; if people are in an office environment, that’s one space; when they are at home, that’s another.

Your essay should be between 300-800 words in MLA format (Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced, etc.), which comes to around 1-2.5 pages.

I recommend following an outline similar to this:

Paragraph 1: Brief Description of the film or television show. You do not want to tell the entire plot, but you want to give the reader an idea of who the main characters are and what the situation/conflict is.

Paragraph 2: Discussion of the various categories of space, markers, and what you notice about them.

Paragraph 3: Discussion of how privacy comes into play with the plot and/or characters.

Paragraph 4: What you learned by watching with an eye toward privacy & space.

Kindly proofread the work after completing to ensure no grammar/sentence structure issue, and that it meets the requirements.
