People are living longer than they ever have in the United States. Discuss reasons that people are
having longer life spans. How does that impact the U.S. and create social problems? What is one
strategy that you would use in your community to address the potential strain on the environment?

Family Structure
50 years ago men were considered the bread winners and Women were expected to be stay at
home mother’s. Now there are men who are stay at home dad’s, while the wife is the one who works,
same-sex marriages, many blended families and you will also see grandparents or aunt and uncles
raising their grandchildren, nieces/nephews. Any have solved and changed their way of thinking and
sometimes unfortunately teens have become others at a young age. I personally was a teen mom at
- I did a lot by myself, to raising my daughter while working, going to school, etc.. BUT I also had
help at the same time. Daycare got to be very expensive, recession happened, everything got very
very expensive. Their were times that I felt like a failure and my parent’s said girl we got you, that’s
what family is for! My family helped me to become the person that I am today. I am a hard working
woman, going on 10 years married, in the process of having our home built and with 4 kids! My kids
are in advanced learning with awesome grades and I am so proud of them. I realized the strength
that I had within and realized the strength of family.
