up to the beginning of the modern era. Special attention will be paid to the dynamics of the interactions of different parts of the Slavic world with each other and with non-Slavic neighbors. Throughout the course we will consult a variety of primary and secondary sources that will provide vastly different. The course traces the history of Slavic Civilization(s) from antiquity through the Middle Ages on event perspectives on the history and culture of Slavic peoples. As a result, students will gain new insights into the process of creating politically charged historical, ethnic, and national narratives.
