Pick a recent newspaper or magazine article that discusses a macroeconomic topic (e.g. business cycles, inflation, unemployment, fiscal or monetary policy, etc.).  What article did you choose (give an informal citation)?  Please give brief, one paragraph summary of the article.  In another paragraph (or two), explain how this article relates to what has been covered in class AND give your reaction to the article (feel free to propose policies if applicable).  What are the underlying macroeconomic principles that are being discussed?

Grades will be assigned from 0-5.  Be sure to do your own work and do not plagarise.  If content is plagarised from other sources or copied from other students, you will receive a 0.  Do not simply quote the article, be sure to put it in your own words.  These will be graded on content and not on style, but if improper use of grammer makes the summary difficult to read then points may be taken off.  Here is a rough breakdown of how the assignment will graded.

0-Assignment is not done or not relevant

1- Assignment is done, but has little relevant content

2-Assignment is done, but is missing many key pieces

3- Assignment is done, but is missing some key pieces

4- Assignment is done, but is missing one key piece (for example, the assignment is not tied into class or the article is not cited in anyway) or the assignment is complete but almost unreadable due to poor grammer.  Or, the assignment is fully completed, but longer than one page.

5- Assignment is completed.  The article is informally cited and fully summarized.  The article is tied into the material used in class and there is a reaction/policy proposal to the article.
