Create an Agency Human Services Networking Plan:

Your task is to design a human services agency capable of carrying out basic human services functions.

You are to decide exactly what functions your agency will serve, include at least the following: Emergency food pantry and distribution, emergency counseling service, family location operations, information and referral services, assistance with shelter problems, transportation, services for senior citizens, displaced children and medical priorities. (Do not limit yourself to these components be creative in your design.)

You must then map out what other agencies will be needed in your network to fully serve your human service situation.

Guidelines for your agency:

You have a limited budget and must rely on volunteers and some paid staff.

You are only able to pay four staff.

You will have to decide how much and exactly what their roles will be.

How you organize the agency is up to you.

Next implement the agency through your own written scenario (tell a story). Use the following questions to guide you through:

What was your client role? (Describe whom you portrayed). Discuss your experiences as a client – how were you treated, were you helped, etc.

What was your worker role? (Describe) Discuss your experiences as a worker – who were your “clients”, what did you do with them, did you “help” the client, etc. (how effective were you?) If yes/no what information do you have that tells you this? (Information from the process, the client) Include your perceptions.

Describe your agency, structure, (staffing, etc) and functions. Discuss your effectiveness as an agency. Did you help your clients? (Use examples).
