Research paper on gun control

Length: 2000-2500 words

Description:

What did you learn about your chosen topic or theme through your research?

Working with the sources from the Annotated References assignment(You did it, I am attaching below) and developing it further, you are to write an academic research paper, in which you will compare/contrast, synthesize, analyze, evaluate and critique the sources and forward your own opinionated central claim or argument in this assignment. You will write a structured research essay of good quality. It requires you to use credible secondary sources.

You will forward your own opinionated central claim or argument within a structured evaluation in this assignment rather than only comparing the authors’ ideas and research.

As you are not the expert in this field of research, you can show where one author makes a compelling point and how another author might expand on or contrast that point. In other words, “what did you learn about this topic or theme through your research?”

Organization of the Paper:

Cover page: Provide clear essay title and other relevant details like your name, instructor’s name, course name, university, date etc.

Title: Provide a suitable title for your essay based on the topic of your interest.

Introduction: An introduction with a thesis statement and summary of main points to be discussed in the essay. It begins with an attention-getter and short background information about the topic under discussion. Essentially, an introduction accomplishes two things. First, it gives a sense of both your topic and your approach to that topic, which is why it is common to make your thesis statement a part of the introduction. Second, an introduction compels your readers’ interest and makes them want to read on and find out what your paper has to say. Clearly state the thesis statement that directly connect with the title and provides your central claim/argument with some points which will be analyzed/explained/described in the body paragraphs.

The Middle Section: The middle section comprises of interpretive analysis, synthesis, comparison, contrast, evaluation, critique and persuasion where all points stated in the introduction are developed and appropriately supported with all sources ethically cited.

Conclusion: An original and fitting conclusion to the essay. Your conclusion should give your readers something new to think about, a reason not to forget your essay as soon as the reading is done. Make it impactful. What did you learn from your research on this topic?

References: Your paper should end with a proper APA formatted References page where all sources are ethically included and properly documented. Include at least six authentic sources (journal articles, book chapters, authentic newspaper/magazine article, authentic governmental or non-governmental website article; Wikipedia is not an authentic source). You might also cite additional sources that can help strengthen your point or refute alternative arguments.
