1. Identify where you ancestors are from (if you have multiple-ancestries you can choose one). When did you ancestors arrive to the United States? (this could be your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, etc). Tell me the story of your family and why they came to the United States.
2. Conduct research on this particular ethnicity (country of origin). In which decade was there the largest immigration pattern for this group? How were they treated upon arrival? Which racial group were they forced to fit themselves into? Did they come under any special political or natural disaster asylum? Was there any laws that affected this ethnic group in particular? Take a look at the Johnson-Reed Act of 1924 and the Immigration Act of 1965 to see how United States immigration law impacted your ethnicity.
3. Name any advantages and disadvantages that this particular ethnic group has had during their time in the United States (i.e. Chinese immigrants were paid well as migrant workers in the 1800s, but then the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1888 limited the amount that could migrate here until 1965. Then in 1965 they started coming in large numbers again). Has this ethnic group moved up the racial hierarchy over time? How did all of the above laws impact your family
