Your task in this assignment is to develop an overview of an
authentic educational motivation case you would like to
analyze and develop. The case-based study can focus on a
group of learners (e.g. students or employees who don’t
complete work or pay attention in class), an entire class (e.g.
a class or group of employees with widely varying abilities
and special needs), a unit, semester, or course in a specific
subject area (e.g. motivation for learning history or sales
techniques), or an organization-wide issue (e.g. motivating
seniors to remain engaged their last semester; motivating
employees to use new technology options). Notice that the
case does not need to be set in a K-12 classroom setting,
but it must involve one or more people who are engaged in a
learning process, and therefore are influenced by motivation.
Because skillful analysis involves the ability to identify
meaningful problems in need of solutions, this first step is
crucial to the success of the case. The case should be
authentic, important, relevant to you and your personal
professional goals, and related to learning and motivation. It
should pose motivational challenges that can be
meaningfully informed by theory and research and for which
you can develop potential solutions. You will be analyzing
and developing this case-based study throughout the
semester, so you should develop a case that is complex
enough to be considered from multiple perspectives. The
case will develop and evolve in different directions as we
move through the semester; therefore, this overview
