Each student is to search for three recent/current policy documents on their issue of choice (the issue here is Disability meaning you are to search for three different policies on disability). Students will use the following framework to complete each text analysis:

1.       A summary of the key thrust of the policy papers outlining key principles and how they are to be achieved, problems encountered

2.       Show critical reflection of the information and arguments presented in the policy document – what is the significance of this information to you? (should be written in the first person)

3.       Discuss how the policy information presented in the document might impact on your practice as a social worker?     (from a social worker perspective)

4.       Correct citation of documents using APA (6th edition) referencing style.

Assessment Criteria – Task 1

1.       Draws on set literature to demonstrate an understanding of writing a brief policy analysis.

2.       Demonstrates ability to understand and analyse the information presented in the documents.

3.       Provides evidence of critical reflection of information presented.

4.       Capacity to write in an appropriate scholarly style, with attention to grammar, punctuation and spelling.

5.       Demonstrates correct use of APA 6th edition) referencing.

6.    Use a range of academic journal articles/book chapters and policy documents
