Climate Change

Climate Change

Write a paper that synthesizes information from the course. Do that by including the following:

  1. A description of a current social problem or concern (e.g., climate change, prejudice/discrimination, women’s rights, terrorism, education, homelessness, etc.).
  2. A behavioral analysis of the problem. Ask yourself, how would Skinner (or Watson, or Bandura, or Deci & Ryan, or another theorist) view the creation and persistence of this problem?
  3. A behavioral solution to the problem. How can behavioral theories be applied to solve this problem? Determine a plan of action, even if it is hypothetical.
  4. Describe the limitations of the behavioral interpretation of the problem, as well as any limitations to the behavioral solution. How might you resolve those limitations?

Provide a 2100 word synthesis paper using the articles below. We are required to follow the outline that the instructor provided.  It is listed below as well. The instructor instructions are as follows:

Write a paper (2,100- words) that synthesizes information from the course. Do that by including the following:

1        A description of a current social problem or concern (e.g., climate change, prejudice/discrimination, women’s rights, terrorism, education, homelessness, etc.).

2        A behavioral analysis of the problem. Ask yourself, how would Skinner (or Watson, or Bandura, or Deci & Ryan, or another theorist) view the creation and persistence of this problem?

3        A behavioral solution to the problem. How can behavioral theories be applied to solve this problem? Determine a plan of action, even if it is hypothetical.

  1. Describe the limitations of the behavioral interpretation of the problem, as well as any limitations to the behavioral solution. How might you resolve those limitations?

Outline Questions

Climate Change as the Behaviorist Sees It Outline

    1. Context
    2. Thesis
  2. Statement of the problem
    1. For example, climate change is an ever-present concern with difficult solutions
  3. Behavioral Analysis of the Problem
    1. How would a behaviorist analyze this problem?
    2. Skinner might argue that humanity was positively reinforced for bad decisions (burning fossil fuels provides electricity for our homes and gas for our cars, which we like, so we increase our behavior of consumption).
    3. What would Watson say?
    4. How would motivational theorists like Deci and Ryan conceptualize the problem?
  4. Behavioral Solutions
    1. What solutions can behaviorism offer?
    2. Positively reinforce other behaviors (incentives for electric cars and solar panels)
  5. Limitations of the Behavioral Solution
    1. What limitations exist in a behavioral interpretation and solution of this problem? How do you propose to resolve those limitations?
    2. Lack of government funding for alternative fuels and energy solutions
