Nature-nurture debate

Research found that when a person is born with cataracts which are not removed until adulthood, the person is unable to perceive stimuli from the environment in the typical way. Please describe this research and the implications it has on when in life a person should have cataracts removed, as well as the implications with regard to the nature-nurture debate.
