Discussant Note: Aetna and the Transformation of Health Care
Problem Issues:
 Fact is that the current system pays healthcare providers for service rather than quality.
 Change consumer behavior by seeking promotion of health while providing access to
members healthcare needs -faced with resistance
 Build and design an innovative digital experience for powerful health engagement
features.
Possible Solutions:
Use the old ways in the approach of healthcare services to bring the new way expected to
bring change with Aetna as their health insurance. Invest in creating competitive medical
partnerships—available information about the cost of prevention versus benefits and drug prices
to stakeholders. Record -via surveys- the wants and needs of consumers, specifically the
healthcare providers, clients, and internal stakeholders—training and education from the benefits
of wellness and point of care provided. With a specialty team launch and include a tested and
practical designed digital experience to record follow-ups in all areas of care and the subscriber’s
well-being.
Recommend Solutions:
The digital approach may continually collect feedback via surveys to identify
opportunities for innovation after seeking and completing a health service. This breakthrough
intends to close the gap between product managers, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and
subscribers. The data collected is analyzed to improve service care and business decisions.
Strengthening partnerships with market key stakeholders is what Aetna needs. It may also
include going back to the drawing board to leverage the vision of Aetna into quality care for all,
those at hospitals, clinics, doctors’ offices, and even those at the gym. Include other healthcare
providers in their specialty areas, such as physical therapists or respiratory therapists, to monitor
and put through patients at home or via telehealth—incorporate collaboration of diagnostic
testing, and pharmacist at home. Provide training to member subscribers on all the available
benefits that put level and quality into seeking health promotion via nutrition, mental health, and
other areas of health interest. In addition to the web page, build and design an app to offer an
innovative experience with health engagement features such as lab results, glucose monitoring,
heart rate, and oxygen saturation.
Expected Outcomes:
Analyze and report survey data collected – with the specialty team. They are keeping up
with the times and exercising the vision of service to maximize health in the healthcare business.
The use of an app with real-time data may be used at the time of clinic visits to collect vital
trends. The silence of the fees-for-service to physicians or specialty providers allowable billing
brings to the counter a focused attitude to only necessary tests or drugs. The subscribers will
promote the quality business of well-being to others. Hence, expect an increase in access to
consumers and potential subscribers. Increase employee retention due to inclusion in managing

different tiers of complexities raising training and mentoring—flexibility to incorporate and test
risks in the plan based on data trends. Internal values will become a vivid experience that internal
stakeholders may share by exhibiting to external stakeholders. Employees will communicate
with other internal stakeholders to navigate resources that may help a member subscriber,
minimizing wait response time. This product management method closes the access loop via
postcards, emails, apps, letters, phone calls to members and their primary care physicians- at all
times collecting data to and for Aetna optimizing key performance indicators for the
organization’s future.
