The purpose of this assignment is to demonstrate your understanding of the unified and coherent
theme of the gospel throughout the Bible. The good news of the deity, death, burial, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ is explained within the New Testament but is pointed to throughout
the Old Testament as well.
INSTRUCTIONS
After viewing the presentation, “The Gospel and Christian Ministry,” completing your textbook
readings, and looking over your selected areas of study for this degree program, you will be
equipped to demonstrate the coherence of Scripture and share some of the implications within
your life and ministry.
For this assignment, you must write an 800–1,000-word essay addressing the following prompt:
The theme of the gospel is seen throughout both the Old Testament and the New
Testament. Students should identify and interact with 3-4 key passages within the Old
Testament and 3-4 key passages within the New Testament that point to the gospel. The
key Scripture passages should be identified (with a brief explanation of each) and their
references included within the essay.
Once the key passages have been identified and explained, students will explain how a
biblical understanding of the gospel influences their lives at a personal level and within
your chosen areas of study for this degree program. This understanding should include
interactions with the textbooks from the course (at least 2 references from the textbooks
should be included)
