A Sporting Event
Please review the attached sheet that goes along with Assignment #6. The event must be a sporting event and can be one of your choosing – whether youth, high school, college or professional.
THE PAGE COUNT DOES NOT MATTER, JUST ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS IN A LROFESSIONAL MANNER. Answer the following questions as it relates to event and facility management for the event you have chosen.
I. Pre-event activities:
• What is the venue plan and layout?
• What equipment and facility needs do you have to prepare?
• Is there a schedule of activities for any special events?
• Are there any sponsorship needs?
• Are there any signage commitments and locations (tickets, sponsors, programs, etc.)?
• What food and beverages are made available for spectatorconsumption?
• Is there an opportunity for merchandise sales?
• Are there any media concerns that need to be addressed?
• Are there any promotional activities and needs?
• Do you have any transportation concerns (parking, transportation of spectators, teams)?
• Describe staff communication of those working the event?
• Define what personnel have event responsibilities:
• What is the line of authority (who is the event manager)?
• Are there any security issues?
• Does the facility and event meet ADA requirements? If so, how?
• What measures are in place for crowd control?
II. Actual activities:
• Develop a script of activities (game day itinerary – based off Youth / High School / NCAA / Professional protocol) that includes the following:
o Time of day / what is taking place
o Operational Needs (equipment / set up)
o Event person(s) in charge of various activities
o Staffing (include officials, all personnel and responsibilities)
III. Post-event activities:
• Who is responsible for the tear down of the venue?
• Is there any storage of equipment and supplies used for the event?
• Who is responsible for trash pickup and disposal?
• Was there any equipment borrowed that needs to be returned?
• What is the event’s protocol for final financial accounting,regarding expenses relative to the operations portion of the event (officials/staff payment, ticket sales, merchandise sales, etc.)?
IIII. Critique of event
o Provide a critique of the event you shadowed. From an event management standpoint, if you were the person responsible for overseeing the event, what changes or improvements would you make? Would you need additional staff?
o If you were to make any recommendations for the facility moving forward to better meet your needs for event management purposes, what would those recommendations be based off your observation?
o As the event you have chosen is primarily a collegiate venue, do you think there are additional opportunities to utilize the facility for other events? If so, what type of events do you feel would be a good match for the facility? Is there potential to utilize the facility for revenue generation?
Just follow the directions and remember that the assignment has to be based off of some type of sporting event! And the sheet is just what’s been copied and pasted into the requirement
