B & C. Briefly share what theory/theories you are considering for your scholarly DNP project and why. (My scholarly DNP project is: High Rates of Substance Abuse in the Homeless Population and Barriers to Access to Addiction Treatment Services).

Relate your response to the clinical issue or problem (High Rates of Substance Abuse in the Homeless Population and Barriers to Access to Addiction Treatment Services), that you have identified for your scholarly project and the PICOT question you wrote earlier in the course. How can the theoretical concepts (from the chosen theory in B &C above) be used to describe, support, or explain practice? PICOT: P: Population/Problem: Homeless adults with substance use disorders (SUD) in urban settings.

I: Intervention: Community based treatment addiction centers tailored specifically for the homeless which could include mobile medical units offering medication assisted treatment (MAT) and links to long term care.

C: Comparison: Traditional treatment methods which often involves sporadic detox services or emergency care during overdose events, without comprehensive follow up.

O: Outcome: Reduction in substance use, improvement in long term addiction treatment, decrease in emergency department visits, related to substance use.

T: Time: One year.
