Once you have chosen a side and posted, you will then need to construct a thoughtful, well-written counterargument
argumentative essay
This week we are discussing counterarguments and their importance in an argumentative essay. In the video below, you will be listening to a short story about Cleo and her cat, Hector. After, you will have an opportunity to choose whether Cleo was right or wrong in her actions before posing a counterargument on one of your classmate’s opposing posts. So, if you said yes to Cleo being right, you need to find a “no” and give them a good counterargument. PS. I am a cat person, this is merely an exercise.
What to Do
After listening to the story, you should construct an initial post where you:
1) Choose a side and explain why in no less than 300 words.
2) Try to use ethos, pathos, and logos in your argument.
3) Once you have chosen a side and posted, you will then need to construct a thoughtful, well-written counterargument to someone who has taken the other side of the argument.
4) Please note: This is NOT about what you believe – it is about being able to argue a side and counterargue it. I am literally the most cat-lady a cat lady can be.
