For example the artwork shown below (not attached), The Diskobolos or Discus Thrower, from the 2nd Century CE is a Roman copy of a 450-440 BCE Greek bronze by Myron recovered from Emperor Hadrian’s Villa in Tivoli, Italy. The statue shows an athletic man in ideal shape, at what can be described as “The Prime of Life”, which are characteristics of classical Greek sculpture. The figure is poised as if about to spring into action and release the discus suggesting movement thus giving the sculpture a life like quality.

In this blog post you will write about what we can learn about the ancient city from what was uncovered after excavating the sites covered by the historic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.
