Mindfulness Research Paper
In a three-page paper, pose a specific question related to mindfulness that can be addressed by exploring the available scientific research. Investigate your topic by reviewing and describing the published research studies, using at least five academic citations (that is, not websites or news outlets, but academic journals; it is fine to read the academic journal online). Your sources must include no more than one review article (that is, most of them should describe a new research study completed by the authors of the article), and the majority should have publication dates no earlier than 2000. In your review, clearly:
state the question, in both the paper’s title and in its opening paragraph;
summarize and explain the research evidence about the question, citing your sources in APA style as they appear in your paper;
answer the question;
conclude with a brief discussion of the major points learned and specific possible future directions (beyond “more research is needed”); and
include a separate References page with your sources cited in APA style
Do not use any direct quotes longer than 20 words from other sources; rather, paraphrase others’ words throughout the paper and reserve direct quotes for defining unusual terms or for highlighting especially eloquent descriptions.
The topic of your paper should be very specific. Examples include:
(a) Can mindfulness skills training decrease racism?
(b) What are the physiological processes through which mindfulness practice reduces stress?
(c) Do adults who use mindfulness apps report reductions in anxiety?

All citations (both within the text and on the References page) must follow the APA Publication Manual (6th edition), since it is the standard referencing system for this discipline.
