Law enforcement perspective
An annotated bibliography from a law enforcement perspective is a good resource format for evaluating and conducting research. In writing an annotated bibliography an author can research and learn how and where the information stems from.In looking at several other resources and creating an annotated bibliography with those references, it helped establish a sound outline for specific information regarding the current subject matter at hand.According to a review by James Harner with the USC online research guides, annotated bibliographies do the following; “Encourages you to think critically about the content of the works you are using, their place within the broader field of study, and their relation to your own research, assumptions, and ideas” (Harner, 2018).
Without doing solid research and references and qualifying the subject matter, they would be getting information from many sources without keeping the point on task. Many of the articles that would be found online, are based on opinion rather than facts; this would not help the analyst in their task, as they would need to find in depth articles using qualifying research to help with their findings. While a simple online research may provide some valuable information on what constituents feel about a certain policy, it may not have the research and analysis needed to may an educated evaluation of a policy issue.
An excellent example of something such as this was given in the Community Tool Box Online by Phil Rabinowitz when he describes an example on the first page in the first three paragraphs (Rabinowitz, 2018).The example is too long to post, but in summary, it says the importance of class research can dictate sound information based on quality of information rather than just stating information or bringing up miscellaneous sites based on a Google search.
When transitioning from an annotated bibliography to a literature review, the author must be able to provide both sides of an issue. It is important to present the big picture in a literature review that allows the reader to make a decision based on the review.
When writing a literature review, the author must ensure that they provide references for the articles they are evaluating. In addition to giving credit to the original authors, it is important not to allow personal opinions. The review is based on articles that the author has researched; they should write the paper in a way that allows the reading to determine their view. When writing, a literature review the author must ensure they use relevant content and that the content is structured in a way that readers can easily follow.

Importance of annotated bibliography
A useful literature review ought to provide all the necessary details regarding the research to provide clarity on the specific research topics. The annotated bibliography represents a group of related research topics that expound on the content and information the literature review plans to address. The literature review remains a product of the annotated bibliography. The annotated bibliography can assist in the development of an adequate literature review in different manners. First, the evidence provided in specific research over a provided topic acts appropriately to provide essential information used to develop a literature review (Shuttleworth, 2009). A useful literature review strives not only to evaluate but also summarize research given regarding a topic. The required information easily derives from the annotated bibliography. The use of annotated bibliography enhances the effectiveness of a literature review through providing useful research sources that may assist other researchers. A helpful literature review on an endangered species offers added research sources through the annotated bibliography to any other interested researchers.
Why policy analysts have to be keen on their research
Policy analysts possess the responsibility of providing ample research and information regarding different research topics. However, when the policy analyst uses only the Internet for research purposes, the chances of misinformation and misguided analysis remain high. The Internet, as a source of research alone, remains inadequate to the availability of many researches based on pseudoscience rather than facts possessing back up (Hart, 2018). A policy issue ought to have solutions that strongly depend on recommended sources of information. An annotated bibliography is essential as it not only involves critical thinking in the case of the policy analyst but also provides the opportunity of scrutinizing the research source of reliability and validity grounds.
Transitioning from the annotated bibliography to the literature review
Transitioning from the annotated bibliography to the literature review can prove challenging from time to time. Therefore, the transition process is essential to understand. First, in many cases, the literature review remains a summary of the annotated bibliography. Hence, before the formulation of the literature review, a researcher ought to read, comprehend, and interpret the annotated bibliography (Hart, 2018). Also, a literature review contains the key points about a specific topic. The topic of discussion resides in the annotated bibliography. It is vital to note that the literature review talks about the issues in the annotated bibliography to prevent existent challenges.
Some common errors to avoid in writing a literature review include the use of emotional phrases, the use of personal opinions, and plagiarism. Emotional expressions in a literature review portray the use of individual preferences rather than the research material available (Galvan & Galvan, 2017). Personal opinions, on the other hand, do not give an adequate literature review since the review strongly relies on already existing research. Plagiarism like the use of unjust claims in a literature review is a significant error that undermines the effectiveness of a literature review. The literature review should always maintain 100% originality .
