Compare and contrast the different law codes

Compare and contrast the different law codes that are contained within the collection of documents on reserve in the library. This can be done by comparing the law codes upon specific topics/crimes or by comparing the law codes at a macro level. Be sure to use all of the respective law codes (Code of Hammurabi, 12 Tables (Roman), Christian, Muslim, and Jewish Mitzvot), discuss the differences and/or similarities in the laws themselves and how these similarities and differences reflect the cultures of the civilizations in which they were used.

Make sure that you answer all parts of the question. You may use your notes or the textbook as potential secondary sources for your paper. If you specifically cite a passage from the documents, notes, or text book, you will need to cite those sources as well. I expect citations from the readings to illustrate your ideas and other citations for materials that you use or draw your ideas from, and suggest that if you quote, do so briefly and efficiently. Citation should be easily understood. For example, a simple parenthetical citation will do: for example, (source, p#.). Do not use outside sources other than the documents on reserve and the course materials (notes and textbook); the paper is an example of your ideas and conclusions concerning the law codes provided.

The paper should be 3-5 pages, double-spaced, in length and should be checked for proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Avoid slang and contractions as you construct your ideas. The paper should be typed, stapled or paper- clipped, and have your name listed either on a title page or on the first page of the paper. I suggest that you keep a back-up copy of the paper in case anything goes wrong.
