In this paper you will (a) identify a problem related to inclusivity, diversity, equity, access at UCSB, then (b) propose an innovation that can address/improve upon that problem, then (c) apply a theory that helps explain how and/or why your proposed intervention should work in the context of interest. An innovation, as we will discuss in our Diffusion of Innovation Theory, lecture is something new to a community. As part of this assignment, you will also summarize a study that tests the theory you are using, and discuss how your innovation relies on one of the “Factors that affect the rate of adoption” (also part of the Diffusion of Innovations lecture) to increase the likelihood of success.
Rules:
The main theory you use cannot be the same one you used for Writing Assignment #1 (Communication Accommodation Theory). It also cannot be Diffusion of Innovation Theory.
The possible innovations are wide open, but be creative. Ask if you have questions there.
