Write a 3 page (double-spaced) play or just ONE scene of a play of your own (I’d rather have a detailed and engaging situation/event/scene rather than a summary of all this stuff that “happened” or a complete story) and focus on one (or more) of the following aspects:
Plot and Conflict
Character
Nonverbal language
I HIGHLY recommend immitating from one of your favorite plays we covered OR extending or changing the ending of one of the plays we read in this class! Insert your own drama or family into a situation/structure of a play we read.
Tips
It may be helpful to decide on your favorite play, most interesting aspect of it, and then for that aspect, ask yourself, “What about that aspect makes this play effective or ineffective and why?” or “What was the playwright trying to do with that aspect”?
All creative writers use models, so you may want to take your favorite play and create your own version of it, adopting certain techniques or themes, etc.
After you complete your writing, proofread.
