Your assignment is to write a paper evaluating arguments on both sides on whether or not governments should have the power to force people to be vaccinated. In a neutral fashion you will present three arguments from advocates for mandatory vaccination and three arguments from the opponents of mandatory vaccination. (You may, if you wish, present more than three arguments.) You need not restrict yourself to arguments made relating to Covid-19. Arguments made in the context of Covid-19 will be essentially the same as those made in regard to other communicable diseases such as measles, rubella, etc.,: religious beliefs, opposing big government, the need to protect the community, vaccines are safe and effective etc. So. for example, if you are citing a source who is taking about the need to protect people from measles, that is fine. Whether it’s Covid-19 or measles the issue is the same: Does a government have a right to make you take a vaccine. You will then take a personal position on the issue by then briefly stating which side you agree with and then refuting each and every argument may by those you disagree with. Your arguments against those you disagree with are especially important for your grade because it represents an essential goal of the paper: Critical thinking.
